Lee Roy Selmon's existence is one of football scholarship, family service as well as community involvement. His family's first name is his father was the youngest of the nine children raised in Eufala through Lucious Selmon. He was also one of three siblings that represented Oklahoma on the field of football. The three brothers all made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey was a starter for the entire 1973 season. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. During his three years as Oklahoma's starting quarterback and Sooners' starting quarterback, they went 32-1-1 and won two national championships. The National Football Foundation named him as a Scholar-Athlete three times time in 1975. Selmon was awarded a degree from Education. Lee Roy's fourth volunteer service consisted of ten hours a week in volunteer work during college. After college, he moved in Tampa and played nine seasons for Tampa's Buccaneers. He made the All-Pro for three occasions. Then he started his career. He was an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored him in 1982 as being one of the top 10 young men in the US. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 pounds when he played college football. The year 1975 was the first time he was the captain of the group. In 1993, he was a part of the University of South Florida as associate director of athletics. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
