Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and businesswoman. She co-founded The Huffington Post, is the CEO and founder of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington, an independent liberal news outlet has a TV personality, author, and charitable donor. Originally from Greece she relocated to England at the age of sixteen and then graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. The infamous debating society The Cambridge Union was her first president and she took it when she was 21. She became an author for a conservative newspaper after graduation and, with The Huffington Post launched a couple of years after, she created an online voice platform with a critique of current the political landscape. Her fame helped in attracting several famous contributors. Arianna became famous after she decided in 2003 to run as an Independent candidate in the California Recall Election in order to succeed former Governor Davis. Additionally, she was involved in the Detroit-based initiative that advocated for efficient vehicles that use less fuel. Forbes named her the most powerful woman in media in the year 2009. Her ranking was at 12th place on their list. The Guardian added her to the list of 100 most influential media outlets in the year 2009. AOL acquired The Huffington Post from AOL in 2011. She was then made the president of AOL's media group. The group included several AOL-owned properties, such as Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. Elli Stasinopoulos is the daughter of Konstantinos a management advisor and a journalist. While she enjoyed a strong connection to her mother and father but it was their connection which shaped her. From her early years, she showed leadership abilities that remain highly respected. She moved to England at sixteen to further her studies and then enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. While in college she joined Cambridge Union, a college debate club. The third female president and the first foreigner she was the president of the Cambridge Union. In 1972, her master's in Economics was awarded. The career of a journalist and television host started after her graduation. Also, with Bernard Levin she appeared on the show Face the music.
