Julie London

JulieJulie London (nee Peck) was an American actress and a singer who performed for over 40 years. London was a torch singer, known for her soft, smooth voice. She recorded more than 30 albums of jazz and pop standards between 1955 and 1969. Her debut album "Cry me a river" which she recorded was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001. In addition to her recording, London was nominated for an Golden Globe Award in 1974 for her performance as nurse Dixie McCall in the television show Emergency!. London was born in Santa Rosa, California to vaudevillian parents. She began her acting career in Los Angeles as an actress. London's acting career lasted for 35 years and began in 1944 with roles in films. They included roles as the lead female character in a variety of westerns. She also starred with Rock Hudson in The Fat Man (1951), John Cassavetes and Robert Taylor in Saddle the Wind (1958), Gary Cooper in Man of the West (1958), and Robert Mitchum with The Wonderful Country (1959). In the mid-1950s she signed a recording deal with Liberty Records, marking the beginning of her professional musical career. Her final studio album in 1969, but continued to have success as the role of a female nurse Dixie McCall in the television series Emergency! (1972-1979) and was co-starring alongside Bobby Troup. Jack Webb produced the show.
