Lars Mikkelsen-3-1024x657Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen (born 6 May 1964) is a Danish actor from Denmark. He was in the role of Troels Hartmann (Copenhagen mayoral election candidate) in The Killing and [1] Charles Augustus Magnussen (third series of Sherlock) and the Russian president Viktor Petrov on Netflix's American House of Cards, and Grand Admiral Thrawn from Star Wars Rebels. In 2011, he won the Reumert Prize of Honour At 27 years old, he enrolled at the National Theatre School of Denmark from which he was graduated in the year 1995. Apart from his part in the drama series aired internationally as The Killing, after that, he appeared in two other internationally well-known Danish drama series, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He also had a prominent part in an episode of BBC drama Sherlock as the blackmailer, Charles Augustus Magnussen.In the American television series House of Cards, he played the role of President Russia. In the year 2018, he took home an International Emmy Award for his performance in the character in the Danish television drama Herrensveje. The show was telecast in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in the year 2019.
